Congratulations to our Invacare ambassador, and Guinness World Record holder, Ian Mackay on completing an incredible 12-day expedition through the Great American Rail Trail's easternmost section. The long and arduous 475-mile (764.5 km) journey for Ian and his committed team began in Washington, DC, and ended with celebrations at our corporate headquarters in Ohio. 

Ian rode in his Invacare® TDX® SP2 power wheelchair during his whole journey. Our North American Invacare team were excited to finally meet Ian on the finish line. Ian thanked Invacare and told us “This is the home of my wheelchair. I've done some really cool things over the past year alone and to be able to talk with the folks that work each day to create equipment that allows me to live a very incredible life, is meaningful today.” Lifelong Invacare power wheelchair users and special guests, Kelly Hanlin and Addison Delp also welcomed Ian at the finish line. 

Ian was paralyzed 14 years ago in a bike accident, but his recent accomplishments means that he is now able to experience what he loves. He has got back on the road and set world records. Ian shows praise to the Invacare TDX SP2’s dependability and reliability in various outdoor environments. In June, Ian set the Guinness World Record for the most miles travelled in a 24-hour period using a mouth-controlled power wheelchair! It makes us proud to be a small part of this history.
